Alas, the raven,
most despised of birds,
feasting on carrion,
making itself inedible.
Yet given the task by Noah
of flying and flying
and drying the land
with the beating of its wings.
He hid Elijah where
no one would look to
find him neath the
circling scavengers.
An ominous presence,
you nest in desolate tracts;
the Lord sees you, raven,
and feeds even the despised.
